Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson Leaves Practice With Shoulder Injury

Injuries are never fun but at least with this one, the Vikings may have caught a break. They will, however, have to be without their star wide receiver Justin Jefferson for possibly the remainder of preseason and training camp. During Friday’s practice, Justin Jefferson sustained a shoulder injury that knocked him out of the remainder of the practice. Jefferson was tackled to the ground and landed hard on his left shoulder. After landing hard, he could be seen grasping at the injured shoulder and being checked on by the Vikings staff while remaining on the ground. He would eventually get up and walk off the field under his own power, per reports.

The injury is bad, the fortunate part of this injury is that it’s happening now. With the timetable for a sprained AC Joint recovery being about six weeks, this gives Jefferson enough time to get healed up ahead of the regular season and starting Week 1. While Jefferson most, if not all of training camp, I’d bet bread that the Minnesota Vikings would rather take that as opposed to him missing the start of the season or longer behind being injured. Jefferson broke out among the rookie wide receivers last season to the tune of 1,400 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He was also third among wide receivers in receiving yards in 2020 and finished as the WR6 in PPR formats and averaged nearly 12 fantasy points per game last year.

When healthy, Justin Jefferson is one of the most targeted pass catchers for the Minnesota Vikings and he’ll be looking to continue to build off his rookie season in his second year in the NFL.
