Fantasy Football: The Phinest Waiver Wire Adds – Week 17

It is championship week! If you’re reading this, you have likely managed to survive the regular season as well as a playoff matchup or two. This is the last week of the fantasy season until 2022. That is just sad typing, let alone reading. Which means we should make the most of this week as we go out with a bang and bring home that championship. With a slew of injuries and players being placed on the Covid list, it is highly likely you need to find some help somewhere. I have listed for the last time in 2021, here are the list of players you need to target.

Trey Lance, SF

While I expected him to be on more rosters a month or so ago, the 49ers have not made the move to their 1st round pick just yet. WIth an injury to Jimmy Garoppolo, Trey Lance may be in line to start bringing his fantasy upside to you and your roster. While it is not a guarantee that Lance plays as Jimmy will try to tough it out, Lance certainly has the upside to win you this week. He entered the game against Seattle in week 4 and tossed two touchdowns. In his only start against Arizona he tossed for 192 yards and rushed for 89 yards and no touchdowns. While the no touchdown part isn’t fun, he was stuffed at the 1 yard line and almost got in the end zone. To go with 89 rushing yards creates a floor and ceiling that is too exciting to pass up.

Jeff Wilson Jr., SF

Jeff Wilson had 14 totes on the ground that went for 45 yards and fell into the endzone. He only had three targets, but caught all of them for 12 yards. While this is not a huge game by any means, Wilson was effective and could do the same thing against a houston defense who just allowed a career game against Justin Jackson. The big factor here is Elijah Mitchell’s health. If he plays that will severely hurt Wilson’s upside, but if not it is easy to see WIlson getting more volume a good matchup. The Texans allow almost 122 yards on the ground and would be a prime way to bring your championship home.

Dare Ogunbowale, JAX

If you’re asking yourself “who?” well that’s because Dare Ogunbowale has not had much of a chance se he played behind James Robinson and Carlos Hyde. Well, due to Hyde being placed on IR and James Robinson suffering a season ending achilles injury there is a clear path to starting touches. Since Robinson excited early last week, there was an opportunity for Dare to play the majority of the snaps. He scored a touchdown and received 4 targets through the air. While the patriots may not be an ideal matchup, it is hard to beat volume in fantasy football.

Gerald Everett, SEA

Gerald Everett only saw 5 targets this last week but he caught 4 of those targets for 68 yards through the air and found the endzone. While 5 targets is not a huge confidence builder, I would like to point out that Everett has hit double digit outputs in 4 of his last 5 games in ppr formats. If you’re in a desperate position and need to start a tight end, finding a player like Everett who has had a solid floor as of late is all you can ask for.
